Who Is Skeeve?

Over the years many people have asked this question... thought briefly, then wish they hadn't.

I am an 'Internet' specialist, and I have made a career of working with Internet Providers and for the past 6 years that has been primarily in the DSL and Wireless world. I have some expertise in RedHat Linux (I am an RHCE), databases (Filemaker), Cisco Routers and switches and I dabble a little in most things related to computers.

I have a very serious interest in Computer Security - more in the area of theory, policy and training rather than technical. I occasionally guest lecturers at various academic institutions on subjects such as infrastructure protection, social engineering, the hacking perspective and corporate security policies and I also write articles on Social Engineering and Computer and Business security in general..

I am a Christian, who prefers to focus on faith over organised religion but constantly find myself involved with it - mainly the Anglican Church, which I have a great respect for, especially its leaders in the Sydney Diocese, specifically Archbishop Peter Jensen. I am also involved with CMS and Moore Theological College. I also LOVE the work of the Salvos - they rock!. I also perform community service to the Christian community though my business Christian.IT.

I am married to Barbara Stevens (Ellem), for over 6 years and Barbara is the Assistant Registrar of Moore Theological College. We have four cats, Asterix (Seal Point Siamese), Cleopatra (Royal Sacred Siamese Seal Point), Demi (Pure Blue Point Siamese) and our newest addition Elly (Electrix) daughter of Demi and a Pure Blue Point Siamese. You can check all these out on our cattery website www.ObelixCats.com. These cats are our de-facto children. Asterix, leopatra were bred by Georgine McNair-Kay and Adam Woodward of SacredSiamese.org in Brisbane QLD.

I am a serious fan of the works of Kevin Smith and all things ViewAskew, including collecting things relating to my favourite director. I has a serious collection (I think) and will put up a website of it all soon. Quentin Tarantino is my 2nd favourite director.

I love movies in general and in the past would watch anything that was released to screen, but I now have becoming more 'choosey' in what I will spend his time and money on. I love collecting DVDs, especially anything that has 'Behind the Scenes' extras as the movie making process is his key interest, more so than the actual movies themselves.

I decided to get into motorcycles and my first bike was a brand new 2004 Kawasaki ZZR250, but a truck reversed over it while I was buying breakfast - very sad, but it was time for a bigger bike. So next I bought a 1999 Kawasaki ZZR600 which has MUCH more power - check pics here. I am looking forward to the day I can get a full powered superbike such as a Ducati or BMW, but this day will never come with my wrist being a little weak as well as me being a little fat for superbikes ;-) So I will settle on the new Kawasake 1400GTR which will be released in late 2007.

I have a serious interest in Psychology, especially in social interaction, logic and root reasoning, NLP and so on.

My current 'must watch' TV Shows are Boston Legal, Life on Mars, CSI's, Regenesis, House, Top Gear, Numb3rs and What about Brian. Any shows which I classify as 'smart tv' where you learn something from it, is a must watch.

I likes reading - currently Michael Chricthon, Andy McNabb, Tom Clancy and John Grisham are my authors of choice and David Eddings when he releases books.

I am a would-be 'author'... as in - I 'would be' if I had any time to actually write anything. Some of my past works may one day show up on this website - but don't hold your breath. I am TRYING to write a novel, a Tom Clancy (but better ;-) style book about Global Politics, Information Warfare, Cyber-Terrorism and Future Hacking. I would like to see it done as a screen-play and turned into a movie (as if!). I also write short stories, poetry, songs and so on.

Currently I am writing articles for a variety of magazines - check out some of the articles here.

I love musicals. Anything by Stephen Sondheim is great, especially Assassins. I recently saw Sweeney Todd at the Sydney Opera House... awesome

My/Our best friends include Kelly and Matt, Tony and Em, Geoff and Merryn, David Cox - all from our Church (www.chcc.org.au), also Michael "MikeyB" Bayliss who is also a movie freak and wants to be a movie director (Currently studying at Moore College), Phil "Captain Zammies" Zamagias who is Director of the Bible Society in NT.au, Neil & Vesna Hunter (who also have two cats - Misty and Rascal), Anthony Sarkis and my #suspect friends (shout out to PhreaQ, Carebear, Dogcow, Burnsie and Tads!). I has many other excellent friends which are too numerous to list here.

I have two brothers, one in Sydney into Programming, and one in ACT, who is into Politics and Public Service, and a sister in Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane who is a mother and cat breeder, Mum also lives in Brisbane and is sadly a computer nutt as well. We (Skeeve and Barbara) combined, have 17 nieces and nephews. Barbara has two sisters with 4 kids each!, both in NSW and her parents, Reg and Helen live on the Central Coast.

Sometimes people say I am hard to buy for - NO LONGER! Here is my Amazon Wish List: here

Yeah yeah, I am the 'OptikSurfer' - a former hacker from the 90's. I use the name on my Blog: here which I am rarely motivated to update.
